The practice is introducing a new telephone Prescription Ordering Service from 14th August 2017.

 

The NHS Prescription Ordering Centre (POC) service is an easy service for you to use to order your repeat prescription.

You will speak to a dedicated receptionist, who will be able to order your repeat prescription from your Doctor’s surgery and either send your prescription directly to your normal Chemist or have the prescription ready for you to collect from your surgery.

 

Why use this new service?

The POC service makes ordering your repeat prescriptions quicker and easier. Most surgeries do not accept repeat medicines requests over the phone and this new service will enable you to do this.

                                  CQC Inspection Results - February 2016

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is an independent regulator of health and adult social care in England, has completed its inspection of the Cam & Uley Family Practice. These inspections are used to make sure that health services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care.

Appointments

appointment_1We strive to offer our patients an appointment within 48 hours. We also offer pre-bookable appointments up to 3 months in advance.

Cam Surgery Patients

Telephone Appointments

We are also happy to offer our patients a telephone consultation with a Doctor or a Nurse.

If you feel you have an urgent problem that you would like to discuss with the Doctor or Nurse and are not able to get to the surgery for an appointment on the day, we can offer that they call you back. Unfortunately, we are not able to give a specific time when this may happen as it is very much dependent on the appointments diary for that day.

If the matter is not urgent, but you would like to discuss details with a Doctor or Nurse, then we can book a phone slot appointment for you in the future, on a day that is more convenient for you.

Cancellations

Please inform Reception as soon as possible if you have to cancel your appointment as someone else may need to see a Doctor urgently.

Patient Online Access

You are able to book GP appointments online using the SystmOnline login. You will need to go to reception to be registered for the online service.

 Choice+ Clinics

 

Choice+ clinics are funded by the Prime Minister’s GP Access Fund to help people who need same day appointments. There is a Choice+ clinic in every area of Gloucestershire. Your nearest clinic is at The Vale Hospital, but you can go to whichever clinic is most convenient for you. The clinics are staffed by experienced local GPs. Clinics are open every day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Evening appointments are also available.

 

How do I access a Choice+ clinic?

Ring your GP practice as normal. A nurse or GP will take some brief details of your medical problem and offer a Choice+ appointment if this would be suitable for you. You may also be offered a Choice+ appointment if you attend a Minor Injury & Illness Unit at a community hospital.

 

What sort of problems are suitable for Choice+?

Choice+ is suitable for people with medical problems that are new - such as tonsillitis - or that have got worse, for example someone with COPD (also known as emphysema) who may have a chest infection that needs treating quickly.

 

Are there problems that are not suitable for Choice+?

Usually, if you have already seen your own GP about a problem, or the appointment is about a long-term medical condition, it would be more appropriate if you continue to see your own GP who already knows about your condition, including tests and treatments that you have received.   There are some exceptions – for example, if your long term condition, such as COPD or asthma, has temporarily got worse due to a chest infection, Choice+ will usually be able to help. When you ring your GP surgery, the doctor or nurse who speaks to you will be able to advise whether Choice+ is suitable for you.

 

Do Choice+ clinics have access to my medical records?

At the moment, Choice+ doctors do not have access to full medical records. We hope that this will soon change and that Choice+ will be able to access your records if you give them permission to do so. Please bring a list of the medication you take to your Choice+ appointment.

 

Does my own GP know what has happened at my Choice+ appointment?

When you come to a Choice+ clinic, you will be asked if you are happy for a record of your appointment to be sent to your own GP. Provided you say yes, a summary of the appointment will be sent to your own doctor
